We're already halfway through our week!
We are busy planning Family Math Day. Remember to turn in your forms. Family Math Day is next Wednesday, March 27th from 8:30 to 11:30. A-L families should plan to come from 8:30 to 10 and M-Z families should come from 10 to 11:30. There are lots of exciting things planned this year including a Trail Mix Station, Guessing Jars with Prizes, Face Painting, and of course, the Book Fair! Hope to see you there. Look for a letter coming home Monday :)
Our classroom play is on April 5th at 1:00. Please plan to be there if you are capable. I will also be videotaping.

It is another exciting week in 2nd grade.

Saturday is Dr. Suess' birthday and World Read Day! We have decided to wear red and white on Friday in celebration of Dr. Suess. As a school we will also all stop and read at 8:20 on Friday!

Last Friday it was Jump Rope for the Heart. Jump Rope For the Heart Pictures. As a school we raised over $7,062!
Mr. Fizel took a break from his day to come and read to us. We LOVED it!
We had our Spelling Bee last Friday. Anna was our winner, Ethan came in 2nd place, Taylor came in 3rd place, and our runner ups were Allison and Justin. Each student received a book and the top three received gift certificates to iplay. Spelling Bee Video
Last week we read poems out loud to the class. Poetry Reading
Yesterday we had a Fruit and Veggie presentation on limes. We played a neat game where students pick meals and blast off a rocket. Here is the link:
Lastly, we are in need of LYSOL wipes. We are down to one container. As we continue through flu season it is important for us to keep clean desks. If you would be willing to send a container or two, that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again for your involvement in our classroom! Have a wonderful week. - Mrs. Smith

This week February 19th-22nd
I feel a little silly right now because I completely forgot to save this week's copy of the newsletter, so I'll just give you a few highlights from it! Hopefully you kept your hard copy at home.
1. We are in need of LYSOL wipes. It seems as though we have cleaned our desks too much! If you have a chance to grab a container or two, that would be wonderful!
2. We have new posters hanging up at iPlay and Spooner Outlet. They are on our core value, Trustworthiness.
3. No spelling words this week, just practicing the Spelling Bee words.
4. Jump Rope for the Heart is on Friday. Please return your packets by then.
5. I am teaching a night class on today's technology. If you are interested in taking a class on iPads, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Blogs, Google Drive, or SmartBoard please check out the information from the link below: http://www.spooner.k12.wi.us/community/education/adulteducation/SACE_listing_spring_13.pdf
It is a short, but filling week! I look forward to learning with your child and teaching your child this week! - Mrs. Smith
PS: Last week Justin passed all his addition and subtraction facts. Here he is with his reward! The first three students done earned a special reward.
