Words Their Way
Welcome 3rd Grade Families!
Our year is off to a great start. We are getting settled in and moving to our normal schedule now, which means we are beginning Words Their Way and WIN (What I Need) groups. These are wonderful instructional times where students receive differentiated instruction to meet their needs.
In an effort to move toward "paperless", Words Their Way lists will be posted on the 3rd grade teachers' blogs each week. Lists for all groups will be posted here, so regardless of who your child's Words Their Way teacher is, your student's list can be found here.
I hope you will find the blog to be a helpful source of information for what is happening at SES and in 3rd grade!

A Visit to the Garden
On Thursday we went out to the garden and helped to remove the dead plants and roots. We loved digging in the dirt and learned about turning soil and composting!
Fire Safety
On Wednesday we were given the opportunity to go outside and learn with our Spooner Fire Department. We went into the smokehouse and toured the fire equipment. It was a great opportunity!

Makerspace
Every Friday we take science time to have Makerspace. This is a time for students to create, design, work in groups, and just become better scientists. Take a peek at pictures from today's Makerspace by clicking here.
We had a generous donor from Reddit gifts donate a gift pack to Mrs. Smith. She received 14 Lego miniature figures and a Under the Sea gear pack. We love using them during Makerspace time.
